Why Bamboo Sheets Are the Future of Bedding

Night sweats are a common struggle many people face, from various different areas of the world.

People can overheat in bed for a number of reasons, including menopause, health conditions, and a variety of different medications. Regardless of the reason, overheating at night can reduce a person’s quality of sleep, which can lead to further health complications, and damages to both mental and physical wellbeing.

Recently, thanks to fantastic innovations within the bedding industry, the world is seeing more and more products to help alleviate the stress and anxiety associated with sleep struggles, and further promote a good night’s rest.

Across the world, we've seen the popularisation of such beneficial products as weighted blankets and sensory sheets to help relax the body, as well as sleep sprays, white noise machines, and tech to help track your sleep. From this array of products, one of the simplest, yet most effective on the market, are bamboo sheets – helping to keep users cool and prevent overheating.

How Do Bamboo Sheets Work?

Bamboo sheets have become the go-to option when looking for breathable bedding. Co-founder of Tuck (a sleep product reviews and information site) Bill Fish states that:

“If you are looking for eco-friendly breathable sheets, bamboo is an excellent choice. It is hypoallergenic, and also feels gentle to the touch.”

Bamboo is known for having thermo-regulating properties, being light and breathable to help stop people from overheating during the night. This helps to keep users at a nice, cool temperature, perfect for the hotter seasons.

Bamboo sheets are also hypoallergenic, meaning they can help to reduce stuffiness whilst you’re trying to drift off, thereby promoting a better quality of sleep.

Other Factors Damaging Your Sleep Quality

Whilst bamboo sheets can be a great way to help optimise your bedroom for sleep, they might not be the full solution to fixing a bad night’s rest. There’s a whole host of other factors that could also be contributing to sleep struggles, and by recognising what these are, you can create a more holistic, effective approach to fixing them.

Below are some other common factors that can affect your sleep quality:

  • Using electronic devices
  • Noise and light
  • Comfort in bed

Using electronic devices before bed can make it difficult to drift off. This is partly because they contain blue light, which represses the production of melatonin, subsequently making you feel more awake.

Additionally, having distracting amounts of noise and light can also make it difficult to sleep, putting you on edge and keeping you restless at a time meant for relaxation. Our bodies are built to feel tired in the dark and awake in the light. Having too much light in the room can make it more difficult for the body to drift off to sleep.

As well as overheating, there’s a whole host of other reasons why your bed could be uncomfortable, making it more difficult to relax and go to sleep. It’s therefore important to invest in a supportive mattress, comfortable pillows and soft, breathable bedding to help optimise your environment for sleep.
